La fumure d'entretien en cours de production est approximativement de 80 unités d'azote en deux apports (en fin d'hiver et en fin de floraison), de 40 à 60 unités d'acide phosphorique et de 80 à 100 unités de potasse.
Le désherbage est nécessaire sous la couronne des arbres. Un enherbement est cependant possible si les arbres sont adultes et si l'on irrigue. On assiste d'ailleurs à l'extension de l'irrigation dans les vergers du Sud-Ouest et du Midi.
Taille et éclaircissage.
La taille de formation de l'arbre aboutit en quatre ans à l'obtention d'une charpente capable de supporter la récolte. Lors de la taille de fructification, on favorise la production de rameaux de 1 an. L'alternance (absence de récolte une année sur deux) est très fréquente chez le prunier. Bien que caractéristique de la variété, elle peut être réduite par la taille (on équilibre le nombre des bourgeons à bois et celui des bourgeons à fleur). L'éclaircissage, qui limite le nombre de prunes par arbre, peut aussi diminuer les effets de l'alternance. Il est essentiellement manuel.
Maladies et ravageurs.
Les principales maladies du prunier sont la rouille, les monilioses, le coryneum et diverses viroses (rabougrissement ou prune dwarf, taches annulaires ou ring spot, marbrures zonales ou line pattern, sharka ou plum pox, etc.). Les ravageurs animaux les plus importants sont le carpocapse, les pucerons et les araignées rouges.
Récolte.
La récolte manuelle est employée pour la majorité des fruits vendus en frais. La récolte mécanique ou semi-mécanique est utilisée pour les fruits destinés à l'industrie (l'usage d'un vibreur avec récepteur de type bâche au sol semble donner les meilleurs résultats). Les rendements sont en moyenne de 12 à 15 t/ha et peuvent atteindre 20 à 30 t/ha chez la reine-claude conduite en axe. Les fruits récoltés à bonne maturité peuvent se conserver au froid (4 °C) pendant 4 à 8 semaines s'ils sont refroidis rapidement après la cueillette. Après la sortie de la chambre froide, ils se gardent une dizaine de jours.
Production.
La production de prunes est très variable d'une année à l'autre. La production mondiale est d'environ 6 millions de tonnes. En 1997, la France a produit 210 000 t (contre 360 000 t en 1996) ; les exportations ont été de 8 000 t et les importations de 10 000 t. Parmi ces fruits, les mirabelles représentent une production de 18 800 t, située surtout dans l'est de la France ; elles sont principalement destinées à l'industrie (confiturerie, distillerie).

Les prunus sont cultivés soit pour leur feuillage persistant, soit pour leur abondante floraison printanière. Tous les sols de jardins bien drainés conviennent aux prunus. A l'exception des pêchers à fleurs et des lauriers-cerises, qui manifestent des signes de chlorose en terrain calcaire, les prunus supportent le calcaire. La taille régulière n'est pas nécessaire. Les maladies des prunus sont les mêmes que celles qui atteignent les espèces fruitières voisines.

Les psalliotes étaient autrefois classées dans le genre Paslliota, remplacé dans la nomenclature actuelle par le genre Agaricus. Il existe de nombreuses espèces de psalliotes comestibles : l'agaric champêtre, ou rosé des prés Agaricus campestris, le champignon de couche ou champignon de Paris (A. bisporus), et la psalliote des jachères (A. arvensis). Deux espèces de psalliotes sont indigestes : la psalliote jaunissante (A. xanthodermus) et la psalliote radicante (A. romagnesi). Les agarics des forêts (A. silvicola et A. silvatica par exemple), difficiles à déterminer, doivent être rejetés, certaines espèces étant suspectes.
Outre le champignon de Paris, on cultive aussi, depuis peu, l'espèce A. edulis, qui résiste aux virus et aux températures estivales.

Le psylle du poirier (Psylla piricola) est un ravageur commun des vergers de poiriers français. Les adultes et les larves épuisent les arbres par les multiples piqûres qu'ils font dans les bourgeons, les feuilles, les rameaux et les jeunes fruits. En outre, le miellat excrété par les larves provoque des brûlures et le développement de la fumagine, champignon noir pulvérulent.
La lutte contre le psylle du poirier consiste à pulvériser des insecticides homologués dès le début des pontes, en hiver. Après la floraison et avant l'apparition des prédateurs de psylles, on peut utiliser un insecticide si les populations de psylles sont importantes.

Plante annuelle cultivée pour ses graines utilisées en médecine comme laxatif (espèce Plantago arenaria, famille des plantaginacées).
Le psyllium de Provence est cultivé dans le sud de la France, de préférence en sol sablonneux. La plante est installée par semis au printemps ; on récolte la semence en août. Le mucilage des graines gonfle au contact de l'eau ; elles sont de ce fait utilisées pour favoriser le transit intestinal et donc, lutter contre la constipation.
